So this is what I've been up to lately:
Another frivolous pretty thing :) This little cape has layers of tulle and lace, with lace and feather trims, beading, embroidery, and a pleated gold lining. It's the perfect size project for me - I can do a lot of detail in a short amount of time, and I tend to finish right as I am starting to get bored. (My attention span is getting a bit short. Too much time in the company of a toddler?)
These are some snaps from my art journal:
My drawing still sucks, so I tend to use glossy magazines for references. Of course the models are so photoshopped they don't even look like people anymore... it's amazing how you notice all the missing ears and legs and things when you start really looking. To see what I mean, have a look at this pinterest board.
And this is fun, it's an 'in progress' embellishment for my Steamfest outfit:
The ribbons have all had a tea bath but I don't think they look distressed enough. A bit of creative fraying and some ink should do the trick. Once the embellishments are on it will be chunky and heavy and fabulous.

Steampunk Paper Dolls
May I introduce Dr. Snorfunkle, Captain Sally Stripeypants, Sir Pompy Pompington, and Miss Fishnet Socks:
I only made four, but I would like to do a few more and hang them as a garland. Must remember to buy more split pins.
(Also, when did split pins become 'brads'?)

Little Vignettes of My Day
Ah, finally, some time to get my craft on! Simple pleasures - making sketches, hand stitching a bit of lace, touching up a painting - these are the things that make my days lovely. And this is what my Thursday is looking like:
